We have been learning about Hot and Cold areas of the world. The World has two poles in the same way as a magnet has a North Pole and a South Pole. Magnets create an invisible force known as magnetism. It was great to see how opposite poles attract each other whilst similar poles repel one another. Tests were carried out on a variety of materials to see if they had magnetic properties or not. We created our own compasses by magnetising a needle and seeing if Earth’s invisible magnetic fields helped the needle to identify north.
