We investigated how germs are transferred when we don’t wash our hands properly.
Three children had Vaseline applied to their right hand and then pressed it in a tray of red glitter to represent ‘germs’.
The first child then washed his hands using soap and warm water.
The second child washed her hands using only cold water.
The third child did not was his hands at all.
Each child then ‘high fived’ the other children in their group to show how germs are transferred.
We concluded that the fewest germs were transferred when hands had been washed thoroughly using soap and warm water. Most germs were transferred when hands had not been washed.
