Mrs Murphy's Class World War II Day
Mrs Murphy's Year 4 class have been learning about World War II and the children who were evacuated during the war.
Today many of us dressed up as Evacuees and we all brought in two things that we would take with us if we were being evacuated. We had gas masks, teddies, photographs, toys as well as a few shillings and pennies.
We had a very busy day learning about ID Cards and rationing. We learnt about the food that the children would have had to eat like powdered eggs and lard - there were very few treats available.
We made our own ID tags and cards and then we all lined up to march off to the waiting bus. We were very sad but we sang 'Run, Rabbit, Run' to keep our spirits up.
We are all very thankful that we will never need to be evacuated from our homes!
