Miss Cochrane's Class visit Mount Stewart
Today we went back in time to Christmas in the 1950's. To do this we had to go on a long bus journey to Mount Stewart. When we arrived we could not believe the size of the big house and how many rooms it had. We visited a kitchen where we learnt there was still rationing long after the war was over. We also learnt you can do a cool experiment with lemon and baking powder to help makes cakes rise. We had a look at some old toys and couldn't believe it when the man showed us a Christmas decoration they had in the big house was the same decoration we had made in school. We used our voices to sing old and new carols by a beautiful big Christmas tree. In fact some of us even dressed up as soldiers. We brought home a giant fir cone which had grown at Mount Stewart and made our own Christmas cards. What a great day!
