Today we sent two girls teams to take part in the Northern Ireland McCloy Cup Regional Qualifying Tournament in Newry. Both teams were fantastic playing brilliant hockey across the day. Team 1 we’re certainly on form for the tournament conceding only 1 goal throughout the day and bringing home the gold medal. Their group stage results were:
Dromore 4 - Bleary 1
Dromore 2 - Spa 0
Dromore 8 - Windsor Hill 0
Dromore 5 - Kilkeel 0
Dromore 5 - Ballydown 0
Dromore 5 - Dromore 0
They then met Kilkeel again in the semi final which proved to be a much tighter affair but the girls held their resolve and booked their place in the final with a 1-0 win. The final was a much more settled game and once again the girls showed their class winning 4-0 and securing a place in the Northern Ireland finals.
