We have had fun learning all about Materials.
We have been thinking about natural and man-made materials as well as feeling objects to identify which materials are rough and smooth.
We enjoyed creating ‘journey sticks’ as part of our outdoor play based learning, linked to wood and the story ‘Stick Man’.
We planned an investigation into floating and sinking and discovered that wood and plastic usually float in water, while glass and metal objects sank. However, the shape of the object can affect whether it floats or sinks.
We loved ‘fixing’ real technology objects using tools in our role play ‘Tinkering Workshop’.
